Healing hearts in the Asian Community
A workshop of mindfulness & meditation for the individual and the collective
In collaboration with Asian Mental Health Collective
7:00PM -8:00PM Eastern Standard Time, March 31st
This workshop is a necessary response to the distressing times that Asians are facing from the recent murders in Atlanta to the staggering rise in anti-Asian hate incidents over the past year. It is critical to take care of ourselves, our minds and our hearts during this time when many of us feel triggered and have strong emotions that can be overwhelming.
The powerful tools of mindfulness and meditation are scientifically backed practices where brain scans have shown changes in the structure and function of the brain, and when practiced consistently, the benefits become lasting traits. It can help to decrease stress, anxiety, depression and promote calm and focus, lessen mind chatter, boost immunity and even prolong cellular aging. It can help manage strong emotions in times of difficulty.
In this interactive one hour workshop, we will practice a short mindfulness meditation together as well as a heart healing meditation. There will be time for participants to share and ask questions.
Please note that mindfulness stems from a history of Eastern religions and traditions but it is not itself a religion, so anyone with any belief system can benefit from this practice.
We hope you can join us as we bring our hearts and minds together as a community standing strong and with the help of these practices, standing resilient as we continue on. Because when we take care of ourselves, we can take care of others.
